6 My soul has dwelt too long
With one who hates peace.
7 I am for peace;
But when I speak, they are for war.
~Psalm 120:6-7
In times of war, the longing for peace reverberates around the world. But I wonder…do we all have the same definition of peace?
I don’t think so. Throughout my adult life, every American president has vowed to accomplish a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians. The idea of negotiating peace with a people group who vows to destroy you seems like ultimate futility.
Recently, I read a very intriguing article that helps put meat on the bones of the philosophy that there will never be peace between Israel and the Palestinians. It revolves around the Islamic concept of hudna. Once understood, it casts a bright light on why there will never be peace between Israel and the Palestinians!
Find out why:
So, is hudna a path to permanent peace or a tactical maneuver to be employed when Muslims find themselves in a position of weakness? I’ll leave that for you to decide for yourself!
