Hey friends, I’m getting reports from several different friends in Israel regarding Jewish eyes being opened to see the Messiah! Of course, we must be careful not to read more into things than what is truly there. Many Jewish people are having “experiences,” but yet may not know Jesus yet.
But here is a story of a Jewish man who certainly met and gave his life to Yeshua (Jesus):
David (not his real name), a young Jewish man, reached out to one of our local ministry partners, congregation Tiferet Yeshua, through their Hebrew website. David asked if they could get in touch with him.
After several phone conversations, they found out that David had been reading the New Testament and was interested in studying with someone to learn more.
One of Tiferet Yeshua’s team members, Kosta, scheduled a meeting with David to start studying the foundations of faith. Kosta often devotes his time to outreach and discipling new believers.
During their meetings, Kosta felt the need to focus on the love of God and how the Messiah atones for our sins. David was open and eager. After studying together, David said it was clear to him that Yeshua is the Messiah promised to Israel in the Hebrew Scriptures.
"What should I do then?" he asked.
For the Jewish people, the spiritual frame of reference is Orthodox Judaism. It means that the idea of becoming "more religious" or "seeking God" translates to doing certain things, for example: keeping the Sabbath, wearing a kippah (head covering), or praying certain prayers and blessings every day.
When David asked, "What should I do?" Kosta told him that the first action he needed to take was in David’s heart: "Receive Yeshua into your heart as Lord and Savior, and ask Him to be Lord over your life."
On that same day, David prayed to receive Yeshua as His Messiah!
Kosta stays in touch with this young man on a regular basis. Due to his work schedule, it is hard for David to attend Friday services, so he watches the livestream of Tiferet Yeshua’s service. David especially loves spending time reading and searching the Scripture. He is becoming a true disciple, and he has a genuine hunger for the Word of God.
While reading the New Testament, David came across passages describing the need to immerse in water in the name of the Father and the Son.
Discipled new believers at Tiferet Yeshua are not rushed to water immersion. The congregation wants to make sure people understand the foundations of their faith and know what it means to surrender their lives to the Lord.
However, David was so excited to follow through with the requirements of his faith. He decided to baptize himself in a spring of water while on a tour of the Jordan River springs in northern Israel!
It is amazing to see how he truly loves Yeshua and grows in his faith every day.
Stories like this one stir my faith and lead me to worship! God is keeping His promises and continues to draw His people back to Himself.
