If we call ourselves Christians, we must love what God loves and hate what God hates. Otherwise, our faith is fake and we are untruthful to ourselves and others. Not that we are to act hateful toward others. That is sinful…and God hates that! Rather, we seek to align our hearts, our minds and our values with His. We are not perfect humans, but our honest desire should be to reflect His character and align with His Word.

This week we have talked about applying that principle as we engage civically in the most unique form of government known to mankind: a constitutional republic. (Truth bomb: America is NOT a democracy! Here’s why.) It means every voice matters, but majority rule doesn’t turn to tyranny simply because louder voices or bigger crowds want to inflict their beliefs on everyone else.

So, how do we align with God’s Word and make our voices heard? Find out what God’s Word says about the issues of the day, then vote according to your values (and encourage likeminded friends to do likewise)! Another great resource is coming tomorrow, but for now, here are some examples of knowing God’s Word and aligning with it:

Stand with Israel

• Genesis 12:3 instructs us to bless Israel and not to curse her.
• We covered this in detail yesterday, but suffice it to say there is a huge difference between the blessings of the previous Trump administration and the curses of the Biden-Harris administration. God have mercy if we go down that road another 4 years.

Sanctity of Life

• Psalm 139 (particularly verses 13-16) speaks of how precious life is to God, and many other passages echo that value.
• The Democratic party is staking their success on winning over abortion supporters…so much so that they brought in a Planned Parenthood abortion van to perform free abortions right there at the convention center during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week.
• In VP candidate Tim Walz’s state (MN), abortion is legal up to and BEYOND birth. At least 8 born babies have been murdered under his watch as governor.
• If that wasn’t enough, free vasectomies were offered to men at the convension.
• Think about it: They want to DECREASE the population, yet they need voters. So how do they get them? How about this…

Open Borders

• Acts 17:26 assures us that all humans are equal in value, but are given boundaries. Throughout Scripture, borders, boundaries and walls are prominent in marking territory for people groups and tribes. God scattered all people from the Tower of Babel and confused their languages, ordaining nation-states and areas of settlement. Nationalism is God’s idea!
• The current administration has blatantly shown they want open borders and they refuse to put up walls or enforce policy that would stop illegal immigration. Under the supervision of Kamala Harris, the “border czar,” our nation is flooded by well over 10 million illegal immigrants. Over 330,000 sex-trafficked children are “lost” inside the US. (The government doesn’t know where they are.) Known terrorists are inside our country, as are dangerous criminals (raping and killing American citizens), and drugs coming across our borders are killing Americans at an alarming rate. BTW – your tax dollars are putting them up in fancy hotels across the country, paying for their medical care and taking up classroom space of American children.
• Meanwhile, walls are great for most of the high-and-mighty in politics who live in gated communities! In fact, the center in Chicago where Democrats held their convention this week was surrounded by a DOUBLE fence, and convention attenders (over half of whom are minorities) had to present ID at least 6 times at check points to get into the building! (IDs in order to vote, however, are “racist” and a huge burden.)
• BTW – Pro-Hamas (anti-Israel) demonstrators protested outside the convention center every night and actually broke through the first barrier fence. No outrage! Afterall, Democrat VP nominee Tim Walz let Minneapolis burn during the “mostly peaceful” George Floyd riots. Violence is on the ticket for Democrats.

Moral Values

• Romans 1:18-32, 2 Timothy 3: 1-5 and many other passages address morality. Lovers of self, lovers of pleasure, unholy, ungodly, unrighteous, darkened hearts, vile passions, immoral, wicked and debased minds are all characteristic of what we see in our world today.
• Part of the dark agenda on the Democrat side is the celebration and forced participation in DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), a fancy description for the “equity” and gay/trans (and alphabet soup) agenda. They see nothing wrong with drag queen story hour (in front of young kids), men in girls’ locker rooms and sports, feminine products in young BOYS bathrooms (yes, Tim Walz actually instituted that in MN), and “freedom” to do any vile thing a person wants to do.
• In California (where Kamala Harris was Attorney General), they have advanced radical legislation that allows child mutilation (cutting off body parts) WITHOUT parental knowledge or consent if that pre-teen or teenage child thinks they are living in the wrong body. (Absurd!)

Friends, I could literally go on for pages, but you get the point. One side has gone totally dark, Biblically speaking. So, let me ask: WHAT KIND OF AMERICA DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN?

Donald Trump is FAR from perfect, and the Republican party has plenty of flaws. I’m honestly not a fan of either. However, Biblical citizenship requires us to look squarely at the issues and the positions each party and candidate holds, then ask,

“Which side most closely aligns with God’s Word?”

Get beyond the “I don’t do politics” argument. This is not about “politics,” but about Biblical standards given to us from God Himself. If He speaks to an issue, we should listen and take heed. True, our Savior will not arrive on Air Force One, but those who sit in positions of elected office will certainly determine what freedom we have as Christians. We have a Biblical responsibility to fight for our God-given rights and freedoms.

Finally, please don’t sit this one out because you think the elections are corrupt. Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t, but the sure way to lose is to not vote. God has commanded us to live out our faith in EVERY area of life, including civic engagement. We are God’s stewards of the freedom He has given us, so not voting is like telling God He has no business “interfering” in the affairs of men. Let’s do our part and leave the results to Him.

Are you registered to vote? Many Christians are not, and across America, half of those who are did not vote in the last election! If that’s you, don’t sweat it…get in the game now! Believing friends, God founded this country on Judeo-Christian values and granted us the responsibility to keep our nation firmly centered on those values.

We have failed. But God says:

…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 
~2 Chronicles 7:14

There is hope for us, but we must humble ourselves, admit our failure to take hold of our responsibility, pray, seek His face and turn from our disobedience; then He will hear us, forgive us and heal our land.
