Ahhh…the big question: What part does America play in end times, and how important are we anyway? We’ll focus on that today, but if you are just joining us, we’re on day 3 of a mini-series called Understanding the Times. Day 1 was all about The Spread of Immorality, and on Day 2 we considered God Wants Our Attention.
America, though blessed beyond measure by wise forefathers who laid a Biblical foundation, is often too big for our britches. We take our liberties and freedoms for granted, and we tend to hold ourselves in higher esteem than God ever intended. We can be certain, though, that God will ultimately put all nations in their place when it comes to Israel. As American Christians, I pray we always bless Israel, no matter what path our elected leaders take.
In America, our currency bears the motto, “In God We Trust.” But do we? As our trust wanes, our prominence declines. Our only hope is for true Spirit-filled followers of Jesus to lead our country in repentance. America is perhaps the key obstacle blocking the Great Reset that threatens to unleash One World Order, but America is in spiritual decline. Fear and confusion grip our nation and we don’t seem to have the spiritual wherewithal to right the ship.
Why is that? Two reasons, I believe. First, America in large part has walked away from God and, as a nation, we no longer know Him. We have pushed Him out of schools, government, and culture. As a gentleman, He will not force Himself upon us, but instead will allow our nation to go our own way without Him. In Scripture, when the Hebrews did that, they were trounced by their enemies. Such retribution may well come to America as well.
The second reason our ship has gone off course is because Christians have “rested upon their blessed assurances” without living out our faith in such a way that it impacts our nation. We have fully abdicated our role in civic engagement by failing to live out our faith at ballot boxes and in public service. We have turned children over to the whims of government-funded schools rather than teaching them beauty, righteousness and goodness. We have allowed “loud minorities” to define marriage, appropriate drug use, and proper behavior. All have failed to yield anything resembling life and culture that God ordained for us to have.
To make matters worse in America, those with moral clarity (whether Christians or not), are censored, de-platformed, and inaccurately mimicked. With the advent of AI, it gets even worse, as those with bad motive can make us seem to say and do anything they want. The Bible is being rewritten to say the most blasphemous things imaginable.
Romans 10:14 asks this question:
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
I ask, “How is a dying world supposed to hear if what is being said is all a lie?”
Our United States seem to be in such a state today. In our relatively short history, we encountered Great Awakenings multiple times during America’s darkest days. Will we experience another? I pray so, knowing that it will occur ONLY when God’s Word becomes the ultimate authority for those of us who name Jesus as our Lord. Sadly, many churches have become social clubs, bending to the ways of the world rather than standing strong on God’s Word, even if it is offensive to some. His Word is honey to the lips of those who long to follow Him, but gravel to the pallet of those who prefer God to bless their godless ways.
As Americans committed to following Jesus Christ, what are we to do? I’ll borrow from Pastor Jack Hibbs who encourages these marching orders to believers:
- Trust God! He exists and heaven is real, transcending anything our government might tell us. Our citizenship is in heaven, not on this earth! (Philippians 3:20)
- Pray for America. If we neglect this, what right do we have to complain? We should absolutely pray for another Great Awakening.
- Let your voice be heard. Too often, we are silent when we should be speaking out about what is right and standing against what is wrong. Our Biblical worldview demands that we do so. School board meetings, city council meetings, our workplaces, the places we socialize are only a few examples of where our voices should proclaim righteousness. We can be certain that other voices are spewing unrighteousness in those places.
Understand the times, my friends, and live boldly! Jesus said:
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
~Matthew 5:16
We’re looking to Israel tomorrow, so join us for that! See you then.
