The fortitude of Israelis is amazing, and many Jews who immigrate to Israel came from difficult situations which required fortitude even before coming to Israel. On the murderous day of Hamas’ attack, one particular Messianic Ukrainian Jewish family found themselves in the midst of their second war zone, having come from the country Russia has been at war with for several years.

Not only that, but God had already performed a miracle when He saved them from a rocket attack prior to October 7. Their home in Ashdod, a short distance from the Gaza border, was struck by rockets fired from Gaza, but only after God warned them to get out of harm’s way! (See that miraculous story here.)

On that fateful October 7 day, however, this family ran to their mission field rather than to shelter. It is stories like these that give us insight into why Israel must fight the war against Hamas. May we never forget how this war began and why it must be fought, and may we always remember that God has special people staged in specific places to continue His Kingdom work! This is one such family!
