Friends, people are literally losing their minds over the Israel-Gaza conflict. Woke ideology has so infiltrated America that we have otherwise honorable service members committing the most outrageous atrocities imaginable to man.

Yesterday afternoon (Sunday, 2/25/2024), Aaron Bushnell, an active-duty Air Force airman walked to the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC and set himself on fire screaming, “Free Palestine!” While some might view this as human tragedy, the reality is that it results from Americans allowing grossly disgusting woke ideology to infiltrate every vector of society, including our military.

The video is extremely graphic, so I won’t show it here. But what is important to share is the voice of reason. In response to the atrocious act that took that airman’s life, Pastor Jack Hibbs said this:

Our United States military, under the direction of a politicalized Department of Defene, has created a situation that clearly displays the tragic fact that God has abandoned us to our own devices.
The individual [Aaron Bushnell] is a member of the United States Air Force who has allowed himself to fall victim to the woke ideology and the progressive propaganda of a demonic agenda that has long been predicted in the Bible. That prediction is – that God will not stand with those who are against Israel and His people, the Jews.
What I’m saying is that you may take issue with it, and I understand that, and I can forgive you IF you are biblically illiterate. But the fact remains, and the evidence is, that this man’s action displays something much deeper, something systemic in our culture that is within our government today – that we as a nation have departed from God. We have abandoned His truth, reason, mission, and biblical guidance. And so God has heard our national demand. Thus, we are on our own now.
You will hear the man shouting “Free Palestine” while he is consumed by the fire of his own making. A life lost due to the love of a lie.
Apart from God, and apart from pastors and pulpits turning back to God, there’s no hope for the United States.

Whether you agree 100% or not is irrelevant. The fact remains that what America is facing is far beyond the ordinary. In fact, it seems to be flying right past evil on its way to desperately demonic. I just reread Romans 1, and more than ever before, it characterizes our nation and our world. Consider what results when unrighteousness turns to debased minds:

²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; ²⁹ being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, ³⁰ backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, ³¹ undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; ³² who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Christian friends, politics will not save us. Only when we as Christians live out our lives in EVERY arena will grace prevail. It may or may not be too late for our nation, but it is never too late as followers of Jesus to commit ourselves fully to Him.

Where do you stand today? Do you know what God’s Word has to say about every area of life? If not, you are vulnerable to the whims of humanism. I’m fairly certain that airman didn’t just wake up that morning loving what God hates and hating what God loves. Over time, he was swayed by things of this world. Be vigilant, dear friends. Don’t be conformed to this world. Rather, present yourself as a living sacrifice to God, so that in the tough times we face, He will guide you to what is good, acceptable and pleasing to Him!
