Welcome back Christian patriots! Yesterday, our focus was on American politics and why they are important in our Biblical stand with Israel. Today, the focus shifts from American politics to our role as Christians in American civic affairs.
With the American election season now in full swing, it is important to understand the importance of American politics as it relates to Israel. More importantly though, believers must understand the Biblical significance of standing for truth, including with Israel. Christians must love what God loves and hate what God hates. God loves Israel!
Why do you suppose so many church leaders and influencers fall prey to anti-Biblical ideology (including failure to stand with Israel)? Is it simply too costly?
Here’s the dirty truth:
- Too many churches today are “woke,” meaning they cater to the hyper-liberal ideas of “accepting” immorality in the name of Christianity. For example, some churches condone abortion, homosexuality, racism (as projected by CRT and other nefarious doctrine), open borders, etc. (To be very clear: there is a difference between loving a person and condoning their sin. Of course we should love the person, but we must not call righteous what God calls unrighteous.)
- Too many church leaders are “tickling the ears” of their congregation. They tell them what they want to hear rather than preaching repentance for sin as John the Baptist and Jesus Himself modeled.
- Too many church leaders are fearful of losing people and their dollars. If they offend someone by speaking the truth, the offended person may take their money elsewhere. No need to touch “controversial” subjects such as Israel and the Palestinians!
- Too many church leaders are fearful of the blowback if they preach the truth. They might not be popular. (It’s much easier to tell people they are loved rather than help people understand their sinfulness! Both are necessary.)
- Other church leaders seem to shy away from Biblical truth because they cannot discern or give an answer to supposed “scientific evidence.” (Example: evolution and the age of the earth. “Science” says billions of years of scum-to-human evolution, whereas, the exact same evidence viewed through a Biblical worldview yields an entirely different, and more plausible, answer.)
Let’s be clear. Not every church is off-target. There are those teaching faithfully from God’s Word and holding fast the truth. There are pastors and church leaders boldly standing for truth. I hope you attend one of those churches. If you don’t, and you see the characteristics noted above, RUN to find another church.
Now, some practicality. One way to determine a church’s veracity to Scriptural truth is to discover what they believe about Israel. Is God finished with them? Has the church replaced Israel? How much do you hear about Israel from your church leaders, and are they supportive of the Jewish state?
Israel is not perfect! But as believers, we are commanded to pray for them (Psalm 122, Isaiah 62), bless them (Genesis 12:3), and comfort them (Isaiah 40). Beyond that, the roots of our Christian faith are firmly planted in Judaism. For that reason, Paul tells us in Romans 11 that we are to provoke our Jewish cousins to jealousy. We have a relationship with the Jewish Messiah, and our responsibility is to put that relationship on display in such a way that Israel will want her Messiah back!
Amir Tsarfati recently made a comment that bears this out:
You can tell the Israelis a million stories about Jesus and how He changed your life. However, if you don’t have the guts to condemn what was done to our nation on October 7th, not only will people never listen to you, but your testimony will be viewed as absolutely hypocritical.

So, church leaders and Christian followers, it is our duty to live our lives in such a way that it impacts every sphere around us…including civic engagement (politics). Biblical Patriotism is Godliness! If God’s Word influences our civic life, it will also surely be a life that loves, supports, prays for and comforts the Jewish people and the nation of Israel!
Do you love what God loves and hate what God hates? God loves Israel!
