Never in the history of mankind has a nation been so “start-up” crazy! Israel is filled with companies that started from nothing and became major players in the Israeli economy. Many very successful startups have been sold for millions (sometimes billions) of dollars! Those startups range from well-known technology companies to agricultural wonders to life-saving medical equipment to life-giving water conservation to some of the best military intelligence the world has ever seen.

What makes Israel the world’s foremost (per capita) start-up nation? Necessity! Consider the neighborhood they live in, where enemies all around want to destroy the tiny Jewish nation. Technology and military intelligence have been life-savers for them. Consider the scarcity of drinking water. Headwaters that pour into the Jordan River make up the only fresh water source for Israel and her neighbors. Water is necessary for life and the Israelis figured out how to conserve it (and even create it from air!)

As the departure for our October tour to Israel draws near, I find myself spending more and more time “brushing up” on details important to have in my mental index. Saturdays have become a day when I share some nuggets from my studies. Here is a look at how Israeli technology is a testimony of God and His goodness to the people of Israel.
