Who can forget this day 22 years ago. The horrific events. The realization that we Americans were suddenly thrust into a country far different than the one in which we grew up.
We pledged “Never again!” and “We will not forget!” People flocked to churches, and suddenly it was ok to pray in school. But, I dare say, we have forgotten.
At the time it seemed like the wakeup call that might thrust America into another great awakening, yet we never quite latched onto the fact that God was trying to get our attention. While that God-forsaken day may have led to the salvation of a few (of which we are to be eternally grateful), I wonder if it was not the turning point that unleashed an entitlement mentality, the tolerance of radical Islam, and the invitation for our country to be invaded by bad people with bad intentions.
Fast forward 22 years and, like a frog in a pot, evil has now consumed us. Thieves are looting stores and told its okay as long as they don’t take too much. Drugs are now legal in most states across the nation. Abortion has killed tens of thousands more babies since then. The government is allowed to trample the Constitutional rights of Christians and others. Men who identify as women can take over girls’ bathrooms, locker rooms and athletic competitions. Physicians are allowed to mutilate children as long as the child can be convinced they are trapped in the wrong body.
What is wrong with us!?! What did we miss on 9/11…and so many other times God tried to get our attention? Where are the bold Americans willing to bow the knee to God and God alone, then stand up and say, “We’re not taking it anymore!” As tardy as it may be, are we able to respond to the 9/11 wakeup call and say, “Dear God, we missed the mark. Please show mercy on us and correct us in our ways.”
America is most definitely not the end all of Bible prophecy. However, God did uniquely bless America through founding fathers who were dead set on establishing a nation founded on Bible principles. Only one other nation was so uniquely called: Israel. Together, God had great plans for the world, yet we both have missed the mark.
Friends, to stand strong with Israel means we must take a stand as Americans. To stand strong as Americans, we must know and understand the rights granted by our Constitution. To fully understand and appreciate our Constitution, we must bow to the Biblical principles upon which our Constitution was written.
Today, as you contemplate America’s place in the world, please stop to read our Constitution and Amendments. Furthermore, as believers in Jesus Christ who want to live out our God-given calling in the greatest nation on earth, I encourage you to attend Biblical Citizenship, a FREE 8-week online course designed to teach us how to live out our calling.
I’m going and some of you have told me you’re going as well! I’m proud of you! To the rest of you, please consider joining us. There has never been a more crucial moment in America’s history for Christians to rise up than now! Will you rise with us, please?
