Israel is a miracle! There is just no other explanation of her existence. A look back at the War of Independence (1948), the Suez War (1956) the Six Day War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973) verifies the fact that, in each conflict, Israel was far out-numbered, had far less military equipment and assets, and were just not highly sophisticated in “doing war.”

They prevailed, overwhelmingly at times, but that was nothing new! Even in King David’s time, they saw the mighty hand of God protect and defend them. David writes this in Psalm 124:

The Lord the Defense of His People

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

124 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,”
Let Israel now say—
² “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
When men rose up against us,
³ Then they would have swallowed us alive,
When their wrath was kindled against us;
⁴ Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,
The stream would have gone over our soul;
⁵ Then the swollen waters
Would have gone over our soul.”

⁶ Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
⁷ Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
⁸ Our help is in the name of the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

Indeed, it is the God of Israel who never slumbers nor sleeps! (Psalm 121:4) He will continue to faithfully defend and protect His uniquely called ones! But He has also given Israelis brilliant minds in a tiny nation that doesn’t allow much room for error when it comes to battle. Israel is still surrounded on every side by enemies, so continues to be far out-numbered. Yet their prowess on the battlefield has advanced tremendously, partially because of those experiences in 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973.

Nations are now hesitant to pick a fight with the small, but mighty IDF. Learn a little about why that is:
