Tabgha: A Special Place on the Sea of Galilee

Following an Israel trip, our guests face a very common question: What was your favorite place? It is somewhat an unfair question, as one cannot possibly pick a single favorite after watching the Bible come alive is so many places.

For most, though, there are tender individual moments with the Lord, so various places become very meaningful to some. One special place for me is Tabgha (also known as Peter’s Primacy). Nestled on the shores of the Sea of Galilee in an area where seven warm water springs temper the cold water pouring downstream from Mt Hermon, it is a quiet, picturesque place to contemplate. It is no wonder it was on these shores that Jesus called Peter and his brother, Andrew, to follow Him. After all, they were fishermen, and this was the hot spot for fishing!

The apostle Peter is a key figure in Tabgha history, as not only was he called by Jesus on those shores, but he was also restored by Jesus on those shores. So, for us who identify with Peter and his shortcomings, it is a place of redemption and encouragement.

Tabgha is one of dozens of meaningful places we visit on our EXPERIENCE ISRAEL Tours. If you are interested in finding out more about our tours, we are hosting an Information Meeting Saturday morning and you are welcome to join us. We will share information and answer questions, and there is absolutely no obligation. CLICK HERE for the link to our online Information Meeting this Saturday (June 17, 2023) at 9:00am (Pacific).
