If the Bible is true, what would we expect to see in our world? If we saw those things, would it make a difference in the trust we put into God’s Word?
Evidence of Biblical truth runs deep and there is plenty of it. For example, there are over 300 Biblical prophecies regarding the first coming of Jesus. For example:
Prophecy | Passage | Fulfillment Passage |
Jesus would be born of a virgin. | Isaiah 7:14 | Matthew 1:18 |
Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. | Micah 5:2 | Matthew 2:1 |
Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem would be on a donkey. | Zechariah 9:9 | John 12:13-14 |
Jesus would be beaten and bruised. | Isaiah 53:5 | Matthew 27:26 |
Jesus’ body would be pierced. | Zechariah 12:10 | John 19:34 |
Jesus would be buried with the rich. | Isaiah 53:9 | Matthew 27:57-60 |
Jesus would be raised from the dead. | Psalm 16:10 | Luke 24:4-6 |
The odds of even those 7 coming true exactly as predicted are far-reaching. Expand the odds of over 300 prophecies being fulfilled and you reach truly astronomical proportions. So, Bible prophecy provides overwhelming evidence that the Bibel is true.
Something else that proves the Bible’s veracity is Israel! The tiny nation’s existence is tremendous evidence, as proven by these facts:
- Israel has survived many attempts of their destruction, just as Scripture says. (Deuteronomy 28)
- The Jews are a divinely preserved people. (Jeremiah 31)
- Israel is a regathered and restored nation. (Isaiah 49, Jeremiah 16 and 31, Ezekiel 36, Amos 9, Zechariah 12)
- The resurrected Hebrew language. (Zephaniah 3:9, Jeremiah 31:23)
- Israel is a land given by God. (Genesis 12-13)
The Bible is true, and because of that, we have confidence in what it says and hope in the promises it gives. If you need a pick-me-up today, turn to God’s Word and meditate upon His promises. You will be uplifted and blessed, so make it a habit!
BTW – we’re going to focus on God’s Word for a few days. It is more important than ever that we cling to what is true….and the Bible is the anchor point of truth! Stick with us as we set our sights on God’s Word!
