Are We Living in a Culture of Death?

What could be more despicable than to deem what God calls precious, worthless? God’s most treasured act of creation was breathing life into Adam and making way for His most prized creation. Man was not like the plants, vegetation, celestial objects or animals God created. As grand as it all was, man was created in the image of God!

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

~Genesis 1:26-28

Creator God valued life, and He most highly valued (and still does!) those He created in His image…every man, woman, boy and girl who have descended from the creation of Adam. Each one is unique, each one is special, each one is chosen, and each one is precious in the sight of Him who created us.

In the abortion arena, the line has been drawn between pro-life and pro-choice, yet the line is drawn incorrectly! Life and choice are not opposites and are not mutually exclusive! In fact, regardless of which side of the political fight one stands, each side has a choice: to enter into an intimate relationship or not! God designed it and he created men and women to be compatible in engaging in intimate, sexual acts. Within the bounds of marriage, it is a sweet thing. Outside of it, it isn’t. Plain and simple…make a choice!

But God drew the line in the right place! In fact, the writer of Deuteronomy expressed God’s line very clearly when he wrote:

19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.

~Deuteronomy 30:19-20

According to God, here are the choices: life and death, blessings and cursing. You are either pro-life or you are pro-death. THAT is your choice, and He even told us which to choose: LIFE!

Now, the context of this passage is not abortion, but the principle is an overarching one. In virtually everything in life, we have a choice, and the right choice is always life-giving! Do you want to live well? Choose life.

But here in the US, we’re once again appalled by the culture of death. We all know that abortion is rampant throughout the world (70+ million babies murdered per year). But some in US Congress have gone even further than we ever dreamed possible. When the new GOP-led House of Representatives voted on a bill that requires all infant survivors of abortion attempts to be provided medical care, 210 Democrats stood in unison AGAINST such measures. “Let the babies die!” may as well have been their mantra. They would rather stand united against anything a more conservative party puts forth than to stand for the life of babies outside the womb who survived an abortion. That is murderous and those who stand for it will face judgment one day.

On another note, regarding our culture of death. A football player who collapsed unexpectantly appears to have dodged death, but Lisa Marie Presley didn’t. The message is not about the character or values of either of those celebrities. The point is that an incredible number of relatively young, seemingly healthy people are dropping dead (or close to it) due to heart conditions. The numbers far surpass pre-COVID numbers. Yet no one is investigating the possibility that “vaccines” may have had an impact. We don’t know that they did, but it is certainly worth investigating rather than simply watching people die of things that could be prevented.

Here’s the takeaway: when darkness threatens to cover the earth, we know we are living in end times. When good is called evil and evil is called good, we know our society (and our world) are headed in a bad direction. When the culture becomes a culture of death, it mirrors what Satan and his demons desire to do once they are released to wreak havoc on earth. That is called the Tribulation, and we are seeing signs of it in our day.

Christian friends, now more than ever, it is time to stand and fight. It is time to do business until Jesus comes for us. It is time to live out our faith in every area of life…even ones we have been pushed out of. It’s time. Are you ready?
