Excitement is building as our 2023 EXPERIENCE ISRAEL TOUR group prepares to launch on February 17! Following cancellations in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID, our opportunity is almost here! So, today we’ll preview one of my favorite sites in all of Israel: City of David.
During the pandemic, archaeologists made good use of time to continue excavating the City of David, where King David built his palace and ruled the kingdom. This was the original Jerusalem before David’s son, Solomon, built the Temple on Temple Mount which stands about a quarter mile uphill to the north of the City of David.
There is so much ancient history in the City of David, including new discoveries and Pilgrim Road, the pathway from the Pool of Siloam where Jews would stop to cleanse themselves in the mikvaot (ritual baths) to Temple Mount. Hezekiah’s water tunnel and Nehemiah’s wall both lend authenticity to the site as described in Scripture.
The City of David is a “must see” and our group will spend time there seeing new discoveries and hearing the history and significance of that incredible place. Some view the City of David as the epicenter of Jerusalem since her history really began there.
All Israel News recently published an article regarding the new finds at the City of David, and it has certainly whet my appetite to go there and see all things new! It was awesome before, so I can only imagine what it will be like when stand on that holy ground in a little more than a month! Here is the article. Hope you are blessed by it!
