The Hebrew language is so rich in meaning! In fact, the more you understand the Hebrew language, the more meaning Scripture holds for you!
In many ways, Hebrew is different from any other language. For one thing, the language was all but dead as a conversational language until the 1880’s when a Russian Jew named Eliezer Ben Yahuda returned to Palestine (Israel was not yet reborn) and was motivated to replace Yiddish and other dialects with Hebrew, during a time Jews only dreamed of reestablishing a homeland. In foresight, though, Ben Yahuda stated:
“The Hebrew language can live only if we revive the nation and return it to the fatherland.”

Another unique thing about Hebrew is that each word has a conventional, a pictorial, and a numeric value. Each letter represents something! Thus, as we begin to understand what words and letters represent, we begin to dive to deeper depths of understanding Scripture. We can never get there in English or any other language!
To give you and example, consider Adam, the first man. Take a look at the treasures hidden in this Hebrew name:
Fascinating, isn’t it! We’ll study more Hebrew words in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
