Ok, listen up Arizona brothers and sisters! Did you know it is our duty to vote? Our great nation was founded on Biblical principles and God desires to honor His Word. When the Bible speaks of moral and righteous things, God intends for us to heed His warnings and His guidance. He desires for us to live in the freedom of Christ.
In fact, Galatians 5:1 tells us, It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. It is a spiritual principle that can be lived out in a setting (our nation) that bestows freedom on us. Without religious freedom, we will be subject to a yoke of slavery! Stand firm and be free!
Let’s take a cue from the Israelites who, when about to enter the Promised Land, were given this instruction:
Choose wise and discerning and experienced men from your tribes, and I will appoint them as your heads.~Deuteronomy 1:13
True, God spoke those words to Moses as He was imparting wisdom to Moses in how to establish government once they reached the Promised Land. But guess what! Our founding fathers looked to the law of Moses when they drafted our founding documents! Don’t believe me, research how many statues, carvings and saying of Moses are found in and around our nation’s capital, as memorials to God-given law to Moses!
Here’s the point: if you are a believer who thinks, “I don’t want to get involved in politics,” that’s fine…don’t get involved in politics. But take advantage of your God-given privilege to vote! (Millions around the world envy that privilege because they don’t have it.)
Get to know where candidates stand on issues of morality, religious freedom, sanctity of life and other things to which the Bible clearly speaks. Honestly, by not voting, you are saying, “I don’t really care what the Bible has to say about things. I’m going to leave it to the government.” You have a say in who is governing! Furthermore, once we lose religious freedom (and we are swiftly marching in that direction), we will lose our ability to gather, worship and pray freely.
Your vote matters and, indeed, it is our Christian duty to stand for Biblical principles.
Organizations in many states produce voters’ guides, helping citizens be aware of where candidates stand on issues. Some are from conservative sources, some are not, so measure what you see against what the Bible teaches!
In Arizona, the Center for Arizona Policy publishes an excellent guide, and they just released it: Arizona Voters’ Guide. It is electronic, so when you fill in your address, it will automatically provide information about the candidates in your Congressional district.
November will be here before we know it, so start evaluating candidates based on their positions and voting records. Then, VOTE your VALUES!
PS: The Bible is fairly clear that the US will not be a “player” in the last days. Our nation is in crisis and those who are elected in November will play a huge part in whether our nation stands on Biblical principles or is swept downstream by unrighteous leadership. May the moral collapse of our country NOT be the reason we cease to have a significant role in the end!
