Having just traveled to Israel and visited the Lebanese and Syrian borders (see this morning’s post), I can say without hesitation that Israel is still safe to visit, and that Christians should continue blessing Israel with our presence.
In fact, what is normal life for Israelis has driven some away in times past. Israelis have a zest for life that nothing seems to deter. They are confident in their military, and are even more assured of God’s miraculous protection of them, proven throughout history. Never have I felt unsafe in Israel.
Despite chaos that surrounds the Jewish state, tourists continue to flock to Israel, annually smashing tourism records. Over 4 million will visit the Holy Land this year and well over half of those will be Christians.
Israelis are taking notice! They see Christians standing with them and boosting their economy, despite skeptics and naysayers. Now, they are even extending thanks to Christians. Praise God for bridges that have been built, following centuries of antisemitism and persecution done in the name of Christianity. (ie – Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the Holocaust and others)
Take a moment to read A Simple Thank You to Our Christian Friends. (Our tour group was there during the time frame the author describes!)
And I will bless those who bless you,~Genesis 12:3
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:~Psalm 122:6-9
“May they prosper who love you.
May peace be within your walls,
And prosperity within your palaces.”
For the sake of my brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “May peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek your good.
