For the Lord has Chosen Zion!

In only a few hours our group will board an aircraft headed for Israel! As the waning hours pass, I am reminded that we will soon enter God’s chosen land. His chosen, not because Israel is greater than others, larger than others, or more important than others. But because He needed real live people in a real live place to be the vehicle of world redemption. He chose the Jews and Israel. Because God has been faithful to Israel, we can be sure He will be faithful to us!

But oh how special is that place! We’re meditating upon the Psalms of Ascent, and Psalm 132:13-15 tells us of the fondness God has for this place and its inhabitants:

For the Lord has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His habitation.
“This is My resting place forever;
Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
I will abundantly bless her provision;
I will satisfy her needy with bread.

~Psalm 132:13-15

The Lord desires to dwell with His people and bless them with provision. He has done that…Israel is prospering! In a region suffering through economic woes, the chaotic aftermath of the Arab Spring, and (in some cases) tyrannical leadership, Israel’s economy is booming, the people are free, and they were recently recognized as the 8th most powerful nation in the world. It takes only a glimpse of Israel’s miraculous war history to understand God’s hand rests upon Israel.

As we travel there, we are reminded we are visiting a truly special place…a place God chose to put His name!

Follow along and we’ll share as much of the adventure as time allows.

Shalom!
