David Ben Gurion: Israeli Patriot and Forefather

Great excitement is building as our tour group prepares for the EXPERIENCE ISRAEL TOUR, launching in just 2 weeks. Our thoughts have turned toward the sites we will see, the people we will meet, and the stories God will write while we’re there. (Stay tuned here, as we’ll share pictures and accounts, as time allows.)

We will fly into Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, perhaps the most secure airport in the world. But what do you know of the airport’s namesake? David Ben Gurion was the key figure in Israel’s independence, and he became the first Prime Minister of the Jewish state after he officially announced Israel’s independence on May 14, 1948. He served into his 80’s, and is as revered as a founding fathers in his country, as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are in America.

Ben Gurion once said, “In Israel, in order to be a realist you must believe in miracles.” Indeed, he saw his share of miracles during the founding and formative years of statehood, and realized miracles were the norm in Israel!

Take a look at this short tribute to David Ben Gurion. Enjoy!
