Lord, Send us a Josiah!

Over the past few weeks I’ve been studying Kings and Chronicles, the Biblical records of the kings of Israel and Judah.  What I know about those kings is that there were very few righteous kings and many who “did evil in the sight of the Lord.”  Once the kingdom split into the Northern (Israel) and Southern (Judah) kingdoms, there were no righteous kings in the north.  The south was a mixed bag, with more evil kings than righteous ones.

However, there was one king who was perhaps more righteous than any other, and was a great leader.  His name was Josiah, and I encourage you to read about his reign in 2 Kings 22-23 and 2 Chronicles 34-35.  You will be blessed!

I also encourage you to pray for a “Josiah” in America!  We need a righteous leader, and I believe God desires that as well.  But God is a gentleman who will not force His will and His way on us as individuals or as a nation.  A “Josiah” must arise, and we must elect him.

Ironically, Joel Rosenberg posted a very timely piece on the same subject matter only days ago.  Perhaps the Lord has spoken to you in a similar way recently.  I know that He is faithful to guide and instruct His children, so I am never surprised when many people are made keenly aware of a common principle that the Lord is making known!  I think this is one of those!

So, rather than re-hash the same thoughts, I commend Rosenberg’s post entitled America Needs a Josiah!  Please take time to read and meditate upon it.  There is a message there that we need to hear as we move into the political campaign of 2016.  Indeed, we need a Josiah…and a Jeremiah!

Be blessed, my friends!
