According to the New York Post, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has published Palestine, a book in which he lays out his case for why Israel should be wiped out.  His theory: “The solution is a one-state formula,” bringing Israel under Muslim rule and advocating apartheid for the Jewish state.

In the book, Khamenei is described as “the flagbearer of Jihad to liberate Jerusalem,” and describes Israel as a “cancerous tumor,” while stating that he is not anti-Semitic.  While he doesn’t directly threaten use of nuclear force, he does state that Iranian nuclear power would be a deterrent to Israeli military action against Iran.

Furthermore, Khamenei calls the holocaust a “propaganda ploy” and goes on to write “we don’t know why it happened and how.”  He knows full well “why” and “how,” and is determined to complete what Adolf Hitler started.

Unbelievably, this is the leader of the country with whom the US just entered a nuclear deal!  It is important that we understand with whom we are dealing, and it is important that the US Congress considers carefully whether or not to approve such a deal.

Why do I share this?  Because, as followers of Jesus Christ, we are exhorted to pray for our leaders.  Based on Biblical principle, those who fail to stand with Israel will incur curses and judgment (Genesis 12:3, Joel 3:2, among others).  I want to be faithful to stand appropriately with Israel personally, and I am burdened for our country to do the same in order to avoid God’s judgment.  The fact is, the Bible tells us that judgment IS coming…its just a matter of time.  Let’s pray that our generation is found faithful, and that the Lord relents for this time.  Then, let’s be faithful to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with everyone who will hear!
