News out of Vienna regarding nuclear talks with Iran is not positive. Iran’s Foreign MInister Zarif indicates “We’ve never been closer to a nuclear deal.” US Secretary of State, John Kerry, echoed: “We are making progress.” Just yesterday, news was released, indicating that US and other world leaders (P5+1) may be compromising on relief of Iranian sanctions. Meanwhile, there is much talk of pushing the deadline back once again.
After two years of negotiations and repeated promises by world leaders that Iran will not have breakout capability, the desperation of the US administration to close out a “legacy deal” is not going unnoticed by the Iranian negotiators. As the deadline approaches, Iran continues to push for an agreement that would prohibit inspection of military and nuclear facilities, while at the same time relieving Iran of the sanctions put in place because of Iran’s lack of cooperation with nuclear inspectors. These were once “red lines” that are now crumbling before our very eyes.
Iran has proven to be dishonest in its dealings with the international community, and has blatantly called for “Death to Israel” and “Death to America.” Even Hillary Clinton admits that Tehran’s “aggressiveness will not end” and it will remain a principal state sponsor of terrorism. The fact that world powers are even negotiating is mind boggling. The fear…and a legitimate one…is that history will be repeated. The dilemma is real, and here is a look at it:
It’s not too late to pray! Let’s ask the Lord to block the current nuclear plans from succeeding, and wisdom for world leaders to know how to handle the situation with Iran. It is God, and God alone, who can bring resolution to the world’s problems, and we would be wise to seek His guidance!
Pray on!
