Students of Bible prophecy know that, ultimately, Israel will stand alone. For example, Ezekiel 38 describes a coalition of nations and people groups (including Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others) that will invade Israel from the north. Verse 13 of that chapter indicates that others will stand by asking questions, but will not come to the aid of Israel. Today, we are seeing Israel’s most solid and faithful ally subtly turning its back on the Jewish state. That “faithful” ally? The United States of America.
Yes, it is sad, but true, that the current US administration is not only at odds with the Israeli government, but seems to be distancing itself from Israel and her best interests. Israelis are very aware of that fact, and journalists are reporting it:
- Another Tack: Gee, Officer Obama (3/5/2015)
- When Israel Stood Alone (9/7/2014)
- Candidly Speaking: Obama is Abandoning Israel (7/27/2014)
Though we see signs of Bible prophecy lining up, I believe we serve a prayer-hearing, prayer-answering, miracle-working God! He can change hearts and minds, and it is He who turns the king’s heart wherever He wants (Proverbs 21:1). Though I believe we are living in the last days, and that Jesus could return at any time, only our sovereign God knows the day and the hour. Could it be that He might change the hearts and minds of world leaders and delay the end of days? We can pray for that! One thing for sure, the end will not come until every person has a chance to know Him as Lord and Savior. He tarries…waiting for that very last believer!
Meanwhile, this we know: Israel will never be truly alone. Here is what the Lord God says:
“Then they will know that I am the Lord their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and then gathered them again to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer. I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,” declares the Lord God.
