Get in the Game…Pray for Revival!

For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,
And His ears attend to their prayer,
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
~1 Peter 3:12

I was encouraged by this verse today, and I want to share why because I truly believe the Holy Spirit is stirring in our midst, and we must listen.  Evil continues to visit our world, and Scripture says the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.  But His eyes are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer.  I want to dwell among the righteous, and I want Him to attend to my prayers, don’t you?  But we have to understand, there is a battle going on.  It is not against flesh and blood, but against forces of darkness and spiritual forces of wickedness in our world (Ephesians 6:12).  We are in a SPIRITUAL battle, and it takes spiritual weapons to fight the battle.  Read Ephesians 6 and put on the battle armor, then go to battle in prayer!

The Lord spoke distinctly to me through two things yesterday.  Rather than attempt to explain or repeat them, please read them for yourself, then come back to this post.  (Both are very short.)

Will President Obama abandon or fully turn against Israel?

Yesterday’s Grace Mail devotion

While I agree that the current US administration may well turn harshly against Israel, my point is not to bash the current administration.  The point is this:  if they are indeed off-course, it is our responsibility as Christians to pray for them and for the direction of our nation, and that of the free world.  Furthermore, Americans are on edge and are fearful…and well they should be if their salvation is not secure in Jesus Christ.  America (and the world) needs prayer, not complainers.  Above all, America (and the world) needs salvation.

That’s where yesterday’s Grace Mail comes in!  Are you one of the 170 million praying for revival?  Looking for the Blessed Hope exists partly for the purpose of exhorting others to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122), and for revival in these last days.

Thus, I offer you the challenge:  will you commit to stay attuned enough to current events to be able to pray wisely for specific needs?  Will you commit to carve out just 5-10 minutes each day to pray?  (Lunch time, drive time, or shower time are great times to pray, and you don’t even have to “find more time!”)  Back in November, we shared days of concentrated prayer together.  One of our prayer points was for a great awakening (revival) in our nation.  (Here, here, and here)  May I suggest you use those posts as a starting point?

Whether you stay abreast of current events (in light of Scripture) via this blog or elsewhere, I highly exhort you to “get in the game” by praying faithfully for revival worldwide.  May it begin with each of us individually!

Blessings!
