O taste and see that the Lord is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
O fear the Lord, you His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
~Psalm 34:8
Happy New Year, friends! Thanks for journeying with me as we look for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). As the world seems to unravel in many ways, those who anxiously await the Second Coming of the Lord may rest confidently in knowing that He has secured us for a day when we will meet Him face-to-face!
Ephesians 1:3 tells us that Christ Jesus has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. There is no blessing He has withheld! Thus, despite the unraveling, there is no fear for those whose trust is in the Lord. Here is how Paul encouraged the believers in Corinth:
Just think—you don’t need a thing, you’ve got it all! All God’s gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale. And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that.
~1 Corinthians 1:7-9 (MSG)
Indeed, our Master Jesus will physically arrive on the scene for the finale at His appointed time. Meanwhile, God has not left us to struggle with events on this earth, but has promised to accompany us on the journey.
As the calendar turns to 2015, the news continues to line up with Bible prophecy. My eyes are on Russia, Iran and Turkey as that alliance continues to develop. My eyes are on Israel and their newly-discovered oil and gas resources. My eyes are on Damascus and the potential of destruction there. My eyes are on radical Islam, the root of much of the evil in the Middle East. All these things are addressed in Bible prophecy, and all are making headlines these days.
I’ll share more about those things in the days and weeks to come. But for today, I simply encourage you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Take refuge in Him!
