We Will Not be Shaken!

Friends, we are on the eve of the “Shake it Up” Prayer Event, and I am so excited about the Lord hearing and answering our prayers.  I have been praying for hundreds of people from around the world to join together in asking our Lord Jesus Christ to “shake it up!”  As I’ve seen people from dozens of nations visit this blog during this preparation time, I am believing that many nations will be represented in this prayer event.   I’m also seeing a spike in viewers, so I know the Lord is preparing to draw many together.  Please continue to share links to this prayer event via email and your social media outlets.

“Shake it Up” was born of a word study I did when, for whatever reason, I was led to look at every occurrence of “shake/shaken” in Scripture.  It was a fascinating study and provided the foundation from which to launch the prayer event.  Over the past three days we have looked at Scripture related to God shaking things up when He is angry, shaking things up to reveal His mighty power, and shaking things up during the last days.  But I’ve saved my favorite “shake it up” verses for today!

Despite all the shaking God has done in the past and will do in the future, we shall not be shaken!  Those who are righteous (made righteous by Christ) will not be shaken (Psalm 55:22) and those who set the Lord continually before them will not be shaken (Psalm 16:8).  We are told we can take refuge in Him, that He will counsel us, and that He is our portion.  That’s the comfort and the confidence we have as we go to Him in prayer this week!

Psalm 62 says that He is our refuge and our rock of salvation.  As our stronghold, he will not allow us to be shaken!  But I want to focus on Psalm 112 for a moment.  That passage tells us that the one who greatly delights in the Lord’s command and is gracious will never be shaken, but will be remembered forever.  I believe we delight in the Lord’s command when we pray for the peace of Jerusalem (commanded of us in Psalm 122), we pray for persecuted believers (demonstrated in Acts 12:5), and we pray for a great awakening (exhorted in 2 Chronicles 7:14).

But here is my favorite “shaking” passage of all:

“For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake,
But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you,
And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,”
Says the Lord who has compassion on you.
~Isaiah 54:10

Yes, the promise is to Israel, but I think it is noteworthy that, though God will shake the heavens and the earth, and though mountains may be removed and the hills shaken, nothing will shake His covenant!  Friends, God made a covenant with us as believers just as He did with Israel.  Different covenants, but similar promises to never forget His covenant.

This week, we are going to rattle the gates of heaven with our prayers, asking the Lord to “Shake it Up” once again!  No, we’re not asking for a literal shaking of the mountains and hills, but a spiritual shaking. We want God to move in astounding ways, don’t we?  This week we will pray to that end!  See you tomorrow!
