The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble;
He is enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake!
~Psalm 99:1

Dear friends, we serve a powerful God, ready to demonstrate His power!  The verse above is in reference to God’s favor toward Israel.  Not only does He “shake things up” with His great power on behalf of Israel….which is one thing we will pray for next week….but I believe He longs to “shake things up” with His great power on behalf of His children who seek to follow Him!

But we need to know the character of our all-powerful God!  Take a look with me at Psalm 29 where David ascribes glory to the Lord.  He speaks of the thunder of God’s glory, and the majesty of our Lord.  Verse 5 tells us that the VOICE of the Lord breaks the cedars!  Talk about shaking it up…the Lord simply speaks and the hardwood of the cedar breaks!  But that is nothing!  Job 26:11-14 says:

The foundations of heaven tremble;
they shudder at his rebuke.
By his power the sea grew calm.
By his skill he crushed the great sea monster.
His Spirit made the heavens beautiful,
and his power pierced the gliding serpent.
These are just the beginning of all that he does,
merely a whisper of his power.
Who, then, can comprehend the thunder of his power?

Praying friends, when the foundations of heaven tremble, that is merely a WHISPER of his power!  We cannot comprehend the thunder of his power…but oh, we can ask!  That’s what next week’s “Shake it up” Prayer Event is all about…calling on our God who has immeasurable power to thunder in response to our prayers!

BTW – Job had previous experience with the God who is able to “shake things up!”  In Job 9:5-6 he says:

“It is God who removes the mountains, they know not how,
When He overturns them in His anger;
Who shakes the earth out of its place,
And its pillars tremble.”

Job goes on to talk about all the Lord can do, but suffice it to say, that a God capable of moving mountains and shaking the earth is able to “shake it up” when His people humbly seek His face and pray!

Gang, I want God’s power to be on display for the entire world to see.  How about you?  When His power is displayed, there is bound to be shaking!  You can’t have a bomb blast without shaking, so let’s pray for a “spiritual bomb blast” in these three ways:

• Prayer for the peace of Jerusalem
• Prayer for persecuted believers
• Prayer for a third Great Awakening in our nation that impacts the world

If that “spiritual bomb” goes off and the world shakes, we will see revival, but that bomb needs a fuse!  That’s where we come in!  Please join with hundreds around the world in prayer next week and let’s ignite that fuse!
