In the latest provocation, Russia announced plans to send bombers to patrol the Gulf of Mexico, citing the “current conditions” as reason for their actions.  Russia’s Defense Minister recently stated that “we have to maintain (Russia’s) military presence in the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific, as well as the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico” — including sending bombers “as part of the drills.”  US officials responded that there is no security environment warranting Russia’s actions.

It is believed that Vladimir Putin is making a point regarding tensions in the Ukraine, where the US has threatened additional sanctions against Russia following their invasion of Ukraine.  The power struggle is in full gear!

As followers of Jesus Christ, there is no need to be concerned about a power struggle!  You see, while earthly powers battle it out on earth, Father God is simply orchestrating events that will lead to the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus!  Russia craves world power.  Their economy is highly dependent upon oil and gas revenues which are currently down.  Thus, Russia has cozied up to China who is bankrolling this effort.  So, while they strive for world domination and crave crave oil and gas revenue, they currently rely upon China.

Ironically, huge oil and gas reserves have been discovered offshore in Israeli waters.  Ezekiel 38:4 refers to a hook in the jaw that will draw Russia and the northern coalition into Israel for battle in the last days. Verse 12 says they come “to capture spoil and to seize plunder.”  Given Russia’s craving for oil and gas, and Israel’s abundance, it is likely that those commodities will be the hook in the jaw the Lord uses to fulfill that prophecy!
