In September 4 White House news brief, President Obama stated, “We don’t have a strategy yet” (regarding ISIS). A week later, in an address to the nation, he pledged to “degrade and ultimately destroy” ISIS.
Today, ISIS is close to conquering Kobane (on the Syrian-Turkish border), and is within 8 miles of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. Not only will ISIS rape, maim, and kill thousands in the city of Kobane, but the conquest of that city will open the floodgates for militants to disguise themselves as refugees fleeing into Turkey, then moving on into Europe. Some terror experts are warning of a possible “World War III.”
There has been considerable criticism to President Obama’s handling of the ISIS situation, and Obama seems to be losing respect as a world leader. Retired Lt General Jerry Boykin (former Delta Force Commander and Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence) has unique insight into warfare and national security. Even before Obama’s gaffe’s in September, General Boykin shared very specific observations in an interview with Fox News. Click here to see the very informative 5-minute video.
Now, only a month later, Boykin is sounding the warning even louder. On his October 10, 2014 Facebook page, he lays out a 5-point plan to handle the ISIS crisis.
This is a battle-tested, highly-respected military expert. He is also a Christian. I believe we have other capable military and political leaders, but we need to pray that their wisdom and insight are heeded. We can’t elect military leaders, but we most certainly can vote to elect governmental leaders who share our values, and who will stand on the principles upon which our nation was founded.
However, Boykin challenges us even further. In closing today, listen to Boykin’s exhortation to believers in remarks he made at the Values Voter Summit, hosted by the Family Research Council (of which he is now Executive Vice President). Let’s not be among the cowardly!
