Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas, and Penny Nance, president of Concerned Women For America, joined forces this past Sunday to lead a “Stand with Israel” rally in Washington DC.  Now more than ever, it is important for us to stand with Israel; and it is important for us to recognize exactly how critical it is for the US, Israel, and our allies to succeed in the battle against militant Islam.

The battle being fought is not a political one, and will not be won with diplomacy and political correctness.  The battle is one of belief systems, with spiritual roots.  Militant Islamist are driven by a “religion” that demands the world be cleansed of Jews, Christians, and even other Muslims who do not agree with their theology.  Furthermore, as Americans, we must quickly recognize that Israel is not the ultimate target.  They are openly called the “little Satan,” while the US is widely known as “the great Satan.”  We talk about standing with Israel.  The reality is that Israel is standing in our defense!

If we have any hope of avoiding war with radical Islamists on American soil, Israel must be successful in the Middle East.  So, how important is it to stand with Israel?  It is the difference between winning and losing the battle against radical Islam.  Either we stop it in the Middle East, or it literally comes to our doorstep.

In light of that, I read a very interesting editorial in the Washington Post, entitled Christians ‘Stand with Israel.’  Jennifer Rubin, an American Jew, reports on the rally in DC and seems to understand the importance of Christians standing with Israel!  It is a relatively short article and I hope you’ll take 2-3 minutes to read it.

On a separate note, this evening marks the beginning of the 8-day Jewish Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot.  I hope to share more about that in the next few days, so check back in the days to come!
