The UN has proposed a 5-hour ceasefire in the Gaza conflict to safely allow relief aid into Gaza. Israel has agreed to the ceasefire, which is scheduled to begin at 10:00am Israel time on Thursday morning. There are no known responses from Hamas regarding agreement to the ceasefire.
Before officially rejecting the Egyptian-proposed ceasefire earlier this week, Hamas provided conditions for a 10-year truce, including that Israel release all re-imprisoned Palestinians who were previously released in the Gilad Shalit swap. They also call for all border crossings into the Gaza Strip to be opened, an airport in the Strip, expanded fishing region in the Mediterranean, and for all Israeli aircraft to alter routes in order not to fly over the Gaza Strip.
Israel agreed to Egypt’s ceasefire proposal on Tuesday and, indeed, waited for six hours before resuming airstrikes on Gaza following a continued barrage of rocket fire into Israel during the ceasefire.
While UN and world leaders preach peace, there seems to be no real effort from the international community to deal firmly and steadfastly with terrorist who continue to threaten and kill innocent people. However, our Lord Jesus Christ stands in defense of Israel, and He will ultimately prevail on Israel’s behalf.
Evil prevails in the region right now. Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem….and for her neighbors. May the Prince of Peace be made known!
