Forget Republican/Democrat…King Jesus Still Sits on the Throne!

“Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote…that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.”
~ Samuel Adams, Founding Father, United States of America

How I praise God for His great blessing upon America.  In many countries around the world, citizens cannot elect their own leaders, but are forced to live in the tyranny of evil dictators.  We are greatly blessed, but are most definitely accountable to God in how we vote and how we govern.  I hope you fulfilled your God-given privilege of voting.

Having said that, the election is now over.  Citizens across our great nation have spoken via their vote, and our elected leaders now have the sobering responsibility to govern in a way pleasing to the Lord.  It is our responsibility to pray for them.

Whether our favored candidates won or lost, our hope is not in a Congressman, a Governor or any other elected official.  Our hope is the Blessed Hope…and our “voting district” is ultimately our heavenly home.  Democrats and Republicans may battle over earthy power, but King Jesus still reigns overall!  Therefore, we can say, “It is well with my soul!”

(Recorded at the Tower of David, where King David himself also bowed to our Lord in worship.)

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”
~ Proverbs 21:1

US Congress Acting on Israel’s Behalf!

UPDATE:  The US House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in support of repealing or revising the anti-Israel UN Resolution 2334.  Praise God for that!  (Why not contact your representative to say “thank you!”)  The House vote elicited resounding thanks from the Israeli Prime Minister.  View his 30-second response here.

With lots of potential drama expected prior to Obama’s exit from the White House, Congress is working to limit the damage of UN Resolution 2334 and the anticipated “last stab” of Israel by the Obama/Kerry foreign policy team.

As you know, December 23 was a dark day in American foreign policy, as the US failed to veto Resolution 2334, which makes face-to-face negotiations with the Palestinians almost impossible and opens a pathway for the Palestinians to press for statehood via the United Nations rather than through bilateral negotiations with Israel.  To add insult to injury, in a speech shortly thereafter, John Kerry (US Secretary of State) blatantly place the majority of blame on Israel, while ignoring the fact that the Palestinians continue violence against Jews, and refuse to acknowledge the right of Jewish people to exist.

However, there is good news: the US Congress is working feverishly to draft legislation that will limit the impact of Resolution 2334, as well as another resolution most likely to be introduced following the January 15 meeting of about 70 world leaders, and rammed through before President Obama leaves office on January 20.

Legislation in the Senate, proposed and backed extensively by Republicans and Democrats alike, aims to:

  • Express “grave objection” to Resolution 2334 and calls for its repeal.
  • Condemns efforts by outside parties (the UN) to force a peace plan upon Israel and the Palestinians outside of direct negotiations between the parties.
  • Demands that the US not allow actions during the Paris Conference (January 15) that will impose agreements or border upon any party.
  • Rejects efforts by others to further isolate Israel through economic means such as BDS.
  • Urges the current and all future administrations to uphold the practice of vetoing resolutions that intend to unilaterally impose peace plans on Israel and the Palestinians.
  • Urges the incoming administration to work closely with Congress to create opportunities for bilateral negotiations.

You can find the proposed Senate legislation here.

The House of Representatives is also moving quickly with their own legislation, supported by both Republicans and Democrats in the House.  They, too, are pressing for direct negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians and an administration who will carry forward America’s long-standing practice of vetoing UN resolutions that subvert direct negotiations.

See the proposed House bill  here, and commentary on these proposals by Joel Rosenberg here.

Be encouraged, dear friends.  I can say with certainty that, while the Obama administration has been far from friendly with Israel, the US Congress (both Senate and House) are very pro-Israel!  While in Washington DC in March 2016 for the annual AIPAC Policy Conference, I was one of 20,000 Israel supporters who lobbied Congress for issues relevant to Israel.  To my very pleasant surprise, all Republicans and at least 2/3 of Democrats were already in support of the issues in which we were lobbying.

Please take time to pray for your Senators and Representatives.  Praise God that they are taking steps to mitigate the damage of late-term resolutions pressed forward by the Obama administration.  Ask the Lord to grant them wisdom and favor as they fast-track legislation to support Israel.

America…and One World Government

Hi gang!  I’m wandering off the beaten path today because, in thinking about the Biblical prophecy of One World Government (see Revelation 13, particularly verse 7), I recently recognized how the US might play into that.  While I don’t believe America will be a major player in end time events, I do see a potential prelude in American government that foreshadows a One World Government, and I want to share some thoughts with you.

Many Americans were surprised by the victory of Donald Trump on election night.  Many others were dismayed, and some are even protesting.  Now there is talk of re-counts in several states whose electoral votes wound up on the Republican side of the scales.  Furthermore, some left-wingers are furious because, while Hillary Clinton racked in 2 million more votes than Donald Trump, Trump won the majority of electoral votes, so is now president-elect.

Mounting tension is growing over the way we elect our leaders, and some are insisting that, in a democracy, the popular vote (not electoral votes) should decide the election.  You know what?  They are right.  In a democracy, that would be the case.

Interestingly, though, most Americans fail to realise that America is a REPUBLIC, not a DEMOCRACY…and the two are not synonymous.  (Here is a very good explanation of the differences between a republic and a democracy.)

Stop now to consider the names of those two forms of government…republic and democracy.  Where do you think party names such as “Republican” and “Democrat” come from?  And you know what?   Each is functioning according to its namesake…Democrats for more government, Republicans for less.  (Again, I recommend you watch the video linked above if you wonder what in the world I’m talking about!)

So, what does that have to do with One World Government?  Just this: a true democracy becomes “majority/mob rule” if left to its devices.  When the majority rules, then law and order disappear.  Why?  Because people are not “primarily good,” they are sinful.  Short of the saving grace of Jesus Christ, we are nothing but sinful, selfish beings.  (That’s why we see “the majority” giving the okay to murder babies, marry same sex individuals, and determine that other sinful acts should be legal.)

Ultimately, the One World Government will look similar.  I’m not saying it will necessarily be a democracy.  It may well be an oligarchy (rule of a few…Satan, anti-christ and false prophet), but it will be far from a republic, based on rule of law that provides inalienable rights, despite majority rule.  (Unless, of course, the Supreme Court disregards those inalienable rights…as they have done with unborn children.)

Seems our forefathers knew what they were doing when they established the Constitution, Bill or Rights, etc to govern a REPUBLIC!  They knew we would need rule of law in order to survive.  How did they know that?  Because there were Godly forefathers who looked to the guidance and wisdom of an almighty God to build a foundation.

In some ways, America has loosened itself from the moorings of that republic and have drifted toward democracy.  I don’t know where America is headed in the short-term, but I know where we’re headed in the longer-term (though perhaps not so distant in time!)  Ultimately, as indicated in Joel 3:2, all nations will turn their backs on Israel and will be judged for it.   (Nations, including America…if we still exist, will fail the Israel test!)

Friends, Americans have been granted one last chance to keep America on the rails, if only for a little while longer.  While our nation is showing glaring signs of implosion, I believe the Lord has shown favor to the remnant in America who have been faithful to pray for leaders who will lead with decency, honesty, integrity and righteousness.  We don’t know yet to what degree we have that…but it is also not up to our politicians to right the ship.

Let’s be the ones to do that!  It starts with revival in the hearts of individuals making up the body of Christ!  It’s time, Christians, to be about the Father’s business.  Arise, shine!  Stand and be seen and heard.  Come back tomorrow for more thoughts about that.

PS: If you have not seen Amir Tsarfati’s teaching on One World Government, I recommend it.  (It is just over an hour long, but its a holiday weekend.  So grab a cup of coffee, sit and relax!)

Donald Trump is now President-Elect…What Now?

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
~1 Timothy 2:1-2

Christian friends, we have prayed and I believe God has heard and honored our prayers.  But what that says to me is that our work is not done…it has only just begun.

Once left with no righteous choice for president, I believe the Lord began stirring the hearts of Christians.  We had a significant dilemma.  How is a Christian to vote when both presidential candidates have exhibited lifelong patterns of unrighteousness and “fist-shaking” in the face of God?  Yet, so much was at stake in this election.  We literally faced the probability of the most liberal Supreme Court ever assembled, and a sure path to the total dismantling of our religious freedoms.  To be certain, we are not “out of the woods,” and I’m sure we will face other obstacles.  But we rallied behind the party platform that gives us the best chance of living out our faith with less jeopardy of persecution.

One of the major news networks announced on election night that evangelical Christians turned out in astounding numbers!  Praise God for that…and thank you to all who prayed through the decision-making process, then went out and voted your values.  I believe that Christian votes made all the difference in this election.  Not only did God hear our prayers, but we heard His reply and moved according to His urging to stand up and make our voices heard.

Our country is still in deep trouble.  Donald Trump is not the answer.  Washington is not the answer.  A “political movement” is not the answer.  Jesus Christ is the answer…and He commands us to pray for “all who are in high positions,” if we are to “lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”  Dear friends, we must be about our Father’s business, and it starts with prayer for our leaders.

As for the election, here are other things to consider:

  • Could it be that God is offering one last chance for Christians to rise up in America for one last Great Awakening?  We have a window of opportunity in these last days, and we must not waste it.
  • Vice President-elect Mike Pence is a strong Christian who adamantly stands with Israel.  Praise God for Mike Pence!  May we see his Godly influence not only in the White House, but in our houses of Congress as well.  Pray that revival will happen even among our elected leaders.
  • Prior to the election, Donald Trump signed on to the ICEJ’s 5 Guiding Principles for Israel, including recognizing Jerusalem as the eternal, undivided capital of Israel.  He has also vowed to move the American embassy back to Jerusalem.  Let’s pray that he will abide by those commitments, and that he receives the support necessary to do so.
  • Trump will now have the responsibility of nominating the next Supreme Court Justice, and perhaps several others during his term(s) as president.  Let’s pray that he chooses wisely and conservatively.  It is still unknown how conservative he will be.
  • In another election night surprise, Republicans held on to a majority in the Senate, which has the responsibility to affirm Supreme Court Justices.  Praise God for that…not because they are Republicans rather than Democrats, but because the Republican platform is much more conservative than the Democratic one.  Pray that the men and women elected to the Senate and the House (also Republican-controlled) will govern honorably and righteously.
  • Though propositions on legalization of marijuana sadly passed in many states, it was defeated in Arizona.  How we praise God for the turnout of Christians who took a stand against this evil.  Praise God for that in our state, but please pray for wisdom and guidance for those who govern in states (including neighboring Nevada and California) who voted to legalize the drug.

We have much to be thankful for, and we have much work to do.  Many of our Christian leaders are calling us to pray, to live out our faith and to rise up to bring about a Great Awakening while there is still time.  I am encouraged, not because Donald Trump is president-elect, but because the Lord God is giving us one last opportunity to heed His call.  It starts with prayer for our leaders, but it doesn’t end there.

In what way is He calling you to be faithful?
