When it comes to peace negotiations in the Middle East, I remain a skeptic, and I’ll cut to the chase. The issue is a spiritual one that ultimately cannot be resolved through geopolitical means. The Shia brand of Islam in Iran has a very definitive end times theology of its own. In short, radical Shia Muslims believe Allah (their god) has specifically called them to destroy the infidels (those who don’t believe as they do) in order to hasten the return of the Mahdi (Islamic messiah). Their mission in life is to do that very thing.

Throughout Israel’s history since their rebirth as a nation in 1948, Iranian leaders have openly and often clearly stated their goal to wipe Israel off the map. Furthermore, they keep no secret of the fact they deem Israel the “Little Satan.” The US is the “Great Satan.”

They have goals and eschatological ambitions that demand the destruction of both Israel and America…the most egregious “infidel” states.

Furthermore, true Biblical eschatology (study of end times) tells us as plain as day that Iran will be one of the major players in the Ezekiel 38-39 invasion of Israel. Make no mistakes: regardless of their narrative about a “peaceful nuclear program,” Iran has enriched enough uranium for 9-10 nuclear warheads…and they are not kidding when they threaten to wipe Israel off the map. If given the means to deliver those warheads, they will do so.

Yet, the Trump team continues to negotiate with the Iranian regime, masters at stringing out negotiations in order to accomplish what they wish to accomplish in the meantime.

On Saturday, Washington once again warned Iran of “severe consequences” if they continue to reject America’s offer of a nuclear deal. Talk is becoming cheap, as the Trump administration has issued those warnings multiple times. In the Middle East mindset, if you’re going to shoot, shoot! If you’re going to issue warnings with no teeth, expect to be seen as weak, and be ready for the “I told you so” moment when Iran is finally capable of doing what they have promised to do for almost 80 years.

I am not for war…I am for peace. However, one cannot negotiate a peace deal diplomatically with a regime whose spiritual calling is to wipe you out!

I am also not in favor of US involvement in any way beyond taking the handcuffs off Israel to allow them to deal with this existential threat to their existence, and providing them with the tools to do the job. No American boots on the ground.

Undoubtedly it is a tough situation, and I typically have confidence in President Trump’s ability to bring parties to the table to hash out peace agreements. I am thankful for his negotiating skills in that regard, but I’m also praying for that negotiating team to know and understand the spiritual elements that make a geopolitical deal with Iran impossible. Even if a deal is made, Iran will assuredly break it because it violates their spiritual calling.

Warrior friends, please continue to pray for the Trump team. Ask for supernatural wisdom and guidance that can only come from the Supernatural One! A big beautiful nuclear deal with Iran will prove disastrous if the Iranian regime pulls the wool over American eyes.
