Hi friends! I just heard from friends in Israel that the Ministry of Education is attempting to shut down a Hebrew-speaking Messianic school that has provided biblically-based education in Tiberias (on the shores of the Sea of Galilee) for over 35 years. We can play a small part to help save that school and it costs nothing.
After legally operating under the license of another school, the Ministry of Education suddenly required Peniel Congregation to apply for an independent license in 2021. They did so, including investing $200,000 in meeting every legal requirement, yet their application was denied. They are now required to have at least 44 students across two consecutive grades, a virtual impossibility for a very small faith-based community in Israel.
The school takes no government funding, and even the judge overseeing the case admits it is a “special community” and has produced exceptional students. There is no reason to shut the school down.
So, what can we do from America? Good question!
The Israeli government values international support. It is a well-known fact that Christians around the world are Israel’s greatest supporters and allies. Our voices matter, so I hope you will take the opportunity to let your voice be heard by signing the petition linked below. FIRM (Fellowship of Israel-Related Ministries) is seeking at least 5,000 signatures and we are over 75% there!
This is a great way to stand with our Messianic brothers and sisters in Israel. Please add your name to the petition. It takes only seconds and costs you nothing.
While you’re at it, please pray for God’s wisdom and favor upon this Messianic congregation and school!
