Election Day is Behind Us…What Now?

As I write this, Election Day has yet to commence. However, here in Arizona (a swing state), we are already being told results will not be available for a whopping 13 days. Several other states, including California and New York, are notoriously slow processing votes and announcing results. Meanwhile, states such as Florida are able to produce results the evening of the election. Perhaps other states could learn some important lessons from them!

In an age of amazing technology, it is astounding that election technology is actually 13 days slower than the old paper ballots, counted and results announced on election night only a few decades ago. The longer the gathering, tabulating and verifying process lasts, the more opportunities for nefarious activity and sinking confidence in our electoral process.

Nonetheless, these are days we are better off fixing our minds on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith! (Hebrews 12:2) Once our duty to vote our Biblical values is done, the results are up to God. As we focus on the Lord, let’s pray He will graciously favor candidates and propositions that honor Him.

After Election Day is a great time to double down in prayer! Please pray for:

  • Those processing ballots. As a poll worker, I am well aware of the amount of work that goes into running elections. Some workers are hired to do what they do, but a large number of us volunteer to help our American election process happen. Those working the tabulation centers are under much pressure, and are in the eye of the storm. May God reveal any illegal activity, and may He bless the efforts of those working to get results out.
  • God’s favor upon candidates and propositions. True, votes have already been cast, but God is no respecter of time. Pray votes reflect what honors Him.
  • Peace and calm across our nation. Tensions are likely high where results are contentious. May God reveal truth and uncover lack of it. Be careful of what you hear and believe.
  • Unity in our nation. Nothing seems to divide our country more than elections, and we are on the brink of potential disaster if things get out of hand. May the peace of God be our guide.

Meanwhile, friends, keep in mind that a strong America is a strong ally of Israel. Pray that our nation experiences a resurgence of support for Israel. May God’s hand of blessing continue to cover us in America.

Time to pray! Will you take time to do so now?
