I want to talk to my conservative American friends today.

America has never been where we are today. Yes, the Civil War era brought division over many things and led to the bloodiest and most deadly war in American history until WWII. That was bad…and so was Pearl Harbor, Viet Nam, 911 and many other challenging times in our history.

But there is a deeper evil happening in America than ever before, and we are fighting for our Biblical foundation. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 describes it like this:

² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. 

Those are not just personal characteristics, but national ones as well. Furthermore, our nation is torn over issues that are crystal clear in God’s Word:

• Standing with Israel.
• Life begins at conception…and is valued not just until birth, but until natural death.
• Loving and protecting children.
• Value of Biblically-defined families.
• The importance of each sex and their God-given roles. (There are no genders, two sexes, and unlimited personalities.)
• The need for clearly defined cities, states and nations with borders. (Yes, it’s Biblical! Consider Babel, boundary markers and appointment of civic leaders. The Bible is full of them!)
• Wise stewardship of resources (including money, land, etc), both personally and nationally.
• A time for war and a time for peace…and the wisdom to know the difference.

The list could go on, but I suspect you know where this is headed! Virtually every issue deemed “political” today is actually a Biblical issue! Yet, nothing but crickets from far too many pulpits and congregations in America. At best, American Christians are fearful of taking a stand. At worst, we are seriously asleep at the wheel. We must WAKE up and RISE up!

Mike Huckabee put it this way:

This year is not just a contest for political control. It’s a spiritual battle to determine what kind of country we are going to live in.

Will we protect unborn life, or will we senselessly destroy the most innocent among us?

Will we uphold Biblical truths about sex and gender, or will we adopt the radical secular left’s twisted and evil falsehoods?

Will we protect God’s vision for the nuclear family, or will we allow the government to destroy it?

So, what kind of country do YOU wish to live in? Most of us want a country that functions on the same Biblical principles upon which we were founded because we believe God is sovereign and knows how things work best. Yet, we as Christians seem all to content to sit on our blessed assurance and wait for God to do His thing. Meanwhile, He is calling us to join Him in making America Godly again.

It is a sad tale when at least 1/3 of American Christians who are registered to vote, don’t do so. This election would not even be close if we all fulfilled our responsibility!
