Welcome back friends! Our focus this week has shifted slightly in a different direction. We’re focusing on our responsibility as followers of Jesus Christ to heed His command to engage in the public arena. Yes, specifically we are talking about our responsibility to participate in our “political process,” specially designed in America to adhere to God’s commands.

Government is one of three sacred institutions ordained by God, and His intent is that we engage appropriately. Furthermore, though Israel is not reliant upon the US (their reliance must be on God!), it is true that Israel and the church are called by God to be witnesses of Him. Israel and America are the only two nations established squarely upon Biblical principles, so we are inextricably linked. What happens in America, particularly within the Judeo-Christian realm, ultimately impacts Israel as well.

Appropriate civic engagement is built on a Biblical worldview, so we must know what God’s Word has to say about the cultural, social and spiritual issues of our day. For example, the Bible is very clear regarding abortion, but did you know it is also clear on things such as child mutilation, borders, nations, taxation, sexual deviancy and virtually every other “political” issue? That’s because those are not truly “political” issues at all, but rather spiritual, cultural and social issues! God’s Word trains us how to view those things.

The short clips I have seen from the ongoing Democrat National Convention cause me to cringe. Abortion is being pushed relentlessly, and many of the issues above are part of their platform. One Democrat after another is standing to gaslight (basically, lie to) Americans. Incredible deception must be filtered through the truth of God’s Word.
