10 Days of Chaos and More to Come!

Can things really get any more chaotic than the past 10 days? Unfortunately, it seems the answer is a resounding yes.

Having spent those days cruising the Alaskan coastline, unplugged from mainstream media and almost all social media, only occasional headlines and small bits of news trickled in following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, Biden’s bout with COVID, the IDF’s successful assassination of terror mastermind Muhammad Deif, Yemen’s attack on Tel Aviv and Israel’s response to it, Paris burning with terrorist activity ahead of the Olympic Games, a global cyber crash, and so much more. Needless to say, returning to reality came all too soon, and we are only scratching the surface of the chaos that lies ahead.

Upon return, I read with particular interest the events in the Middle East, as Yemen is now squarely in the fray. The IDF’s response was swift and powerful, and in a pleasant surprise, it appears the US was instrumental in refueling the Israeli fighter jets during that critical mission to take care of business in Yemen.

Another critical thing to note is that the mission in Yemen was roughly 200 km further from Israel than is Tehran. Hopefully, the ayatollahs took note that Israel can indeed reach the nuclear facilities of Iran.

Consistent IDF attacks continue in Lebanon (Hezbollah), Gaza (Hamas) and Judea and Samaria (West Bank, PLO/Hamas) in response to threats and attacks from those territories. On the sidelines, Russia and Iran continue to cozy up, and Turkey runs amok. It looks more and more like we are living in World War III.

Of course, election chaos reigns supreme in America. That is an entire subject of its own and we will touch on it more tomorrow, but a key element in it all is whether or not America will stand with Israel. There is a very stark contrast between the current administration (and whoever wins the Democrat nomination) and Donald Trump (the presumptive Republican nominee). As President, Donald Trump did more for Israel than any president in history. (US Embassy to Jerusalem, recognized sovereignty over the Golan Heights, Abraham Accords, consistent military aid with reciprocal benefits, etc)

First and foremost, keep an eye on the Middle East, particularly Israel. God’s plan always revolves around God’s people. Secondarily, keep an eye on America. As the last bastion of support for Israel, this election might be a key to Bible prophecy which tells us Israel will stand alone in the end.

Almost assuredly, we have only scratched the surface of chaos.

Being immersed in God’s grand Alaskan creation was a perfect reminder, though, that God is so much bigger than anything this world has to throw at us. Viewing magnificent mountains towering to the sky left me feeling incredibly insignificant in the scheme of things. Yet viewing wildlife such as salmon who must fight their way upstream to spawn, eagles who find coverage in sprawling tree branches for cover in the rain, bears coming out of hibernation in search of food, and scurrying animals that must survive in snow-covered ruggedness reminded me of God’s faithfulness to provide for every need. Indeed, the One who watches over the sparrow, watches over us! (Matthew 10:29-31, Luke 12:6-7)

Be strong and courageous, friends. Greater chaos is coming, but the One who spoke the world into existence is fully capable to care for His own!
