Let’s start with a key passage regarding what it means to be a watchman:
3 When he sees the sword coming upon the land, if he blows the trumpet and warns the people, 4 then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be on his own head. 5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, but did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning will save his life. 6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.
~Ezekiel 33:3-6
Though God was speaking through the prophet Ezekiel to the people of Israel, the principle applies to us all. God’s intention is that we fulfill our calling as watchmen, seeing danger on the horizon, heeding the warning, and blowing the trumpet of warning to others.
When it comes to evil agendas such as radical leftism or globalism, we have a choice to either take part or take a stand. As Christians, we must spread the Gospel or watch others’ lives slip away into eternal darkness.
How do you make choices regarding family, morality, life, and Israel? Do you rely on political positions, majority rule, peer pressure or God’s Word? When it comes to exercising our faith, God’s Word must prevail, and we must exercise our faith in civic engagement. Failure to fulfill our responsibility to evaluate candidates and issues, then vote our values is avoidance of God-given responsibility. If you are not registered to vote, please do so. Then, please plan to vote, whether by early mail-in ballot, early voting at a voting center, or on election day.
We are all watchmen and, as Christians, we see the world through spiritual as well as physical eyes, and it should be very clear to us that America is headed in the wrong direction. Can we turn it around? I don’t know. But failing to vote will guarantee the demise of Christian values in our country.
