Israel’s Attack on Iran, and What About Rafah?

With Passover looming, Israel had announced they would not strike Iran until after the 8-day feast. Yet, strike they did!

As I write, news is still coming in as to just how significant the strike in Iran was. First reports on Thursday’s evening news seemed to indicate explosions in or near Isfahan, one of Iran’s nuclear sites. That was followed by news of damage to one of the Iranian Air Force bases, from which some of Iran’s missiles were launched in their recent attack on Israel.

Not surprisingly, to this point, both Israel and Iran have remained fairly ambiguous, neither rushing to get details out to the media. It is unclear what the damage was, and the Iranians are seemingly denying that anything significant took place! Israel remains closed-mouthed as well. At least for now, it seems neither are interested in escalating at the moment.

But here is a bit of back story. Reports are that Biden agreed not to hinder Israel’s advance into Rafah if Israel would limit the attack on Iran. In other words, “We’ll let you go after the bad guys in Gaza if you’ll let us be “peacemakers” during this election year.” (OK, perhaps I’m reading more into it than is there….but I don’t think so!)

Make no mistake, there is backdoor tomfoolery going on in Washington DC. Backroom deals are being negotiated and blackmail is happening. Of course, Israel is a pawn in some of those negotiations. There are rumors of all kinds flying around and I won’t speculate what will come of it all. But given the bent of this administration to hinder Israel (if not to completely turn their backs on our greatest ally), don’t be the least bit surprised if the evil (dare I say demonic) regime in DC takes another giant step away from Israel.

Meanwhile, Israel sent a definite message to Iran: we attacked, you could do nothing about it, and it could have been much worse. Mind your business or we will be back.

So, Israel’s sights are now set on taking care of business in Rafah. Pray for swift success in rooting out the last of the Hamas units, and pray Israel is able to get to the top leaders of Hamas.

Update: for those interested, Amir Tsarfati posted this update last night.

Shalom!
