First Step to Put Your Faith in Action!

Welcome back, friends! As promised, we will occasionally focus on putting our faith in action in the public square, and what better time to do so than after yesterday’s informative post. Big challenges are coming and, as Christians, our faith should be displayed in every area of life, including civic engagement. It is important if we hope to retain our freedom and liberty as believers in Jesus Christ. Far too long we have taken our God-given rights for granted and there is a strong movement to strip us of them. We have lost much ground and short of Christians standing up to regain the losses, we will one day wake up to find them totally gone.

Here is food for thought: there are only two countries in the entire world whose foundations are undeniably based on God’s Word. Israel and America. God called a pagan Gentile (Abram) out of Ur of the Chaldees and appointed him father of the Jews. He then built a kingdom (Israel) who worshiped the One True God. Later, he called a group of pilgrims to resist religious tyranny and depart to a new world (America) to found a nation built on Biblical principles and values, in which religious liberty was the cornerstone. To Israel, God said, “In you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3) It was Christians from America (primarily) who led the charge to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19) Two nations, two callings, uniquely linked to the same God!

Sadly, both nations have slid off the foundations upon which they were founded. But our responsibility as American believers in Jesus the Messiah remains: live out our faith in such a way that the world will know we belong to Him!

Our faith is to be lived out in every area of life, so I want to encourage you to jump into the arena of civic engagement. Spiritual battles are raging in that arena and our nation is dependent upon Christians to take back what we have lost.

One way to engage is to pray for your state. (This initiative is led by My Faith Votes.) Prayer changes things and EVERYONE can do it! Will you be a prayer warrior for the sake of your state? Please don’t pass it off thinking someone else will do it. The Lord is asking His church (believers) to rise up and reconquer the territory the enemy has stolen. Let’s rise together!
