Happy Thanksgiving!
Despite what we see in our government and society today, America remains the greatest nation on earth. Not because we deserve it, but because God saw fit to establish two nations on the foundation of His Word. He established Israel through the lineage of Abraham and the law of Moses. Then, many years later, He caused freedom-loving pilgrims, hungry for religious liberty, to sail the ocean blue in search of a new land where they could worship freely and govern from the bottom up. That land is America.
A close look at our history reveals Biblical roots (yesterday’s post highlights examples), and with them came responsibilities. Christianity flourished in America and we sent out missionaries throughout the world to spread the good news of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. True, our nation is not what it once was, but let’s focus today on God’s blessings.
We are a free nation. We are a nation that values capitalism and making something of one’s self. We are a generous nation. We are a strong nation, coming to the aid of others. We are a nation that stands with Israel. All these things have Biblical roots, and we are wise to pray that we never lose our will or ability to be the nation God divinely ordained.
As you gather with family and friends today, focus on the blessings God has given you personally, and how He has blessed us nationally. Praise Him today for His greatness. Worship Him today because He is worthy. Give thanks to Him today for all He has done.
We know not what tomorrow may bring, but the God in whom we praise, worship and give thanks desires our trust. His throne endures forever, and for those who belong to Him, we have nothing to fear! Live out your faith today!
Happy Thanksgiving!
