Commemorating Israel’s Six-Day War

One of the most important events in Israel’s modern history is their unbelievable victory in the Six Day War of 1967. As the name implies, the Jewish nation miraculously took care of business in six days, and changed the course of history! The war commenced on June 5, 1967, and beginning tomorrow, I’ll guide you through the historical events of those incredible days.

One of several very significant accomplishments of Israel’s victory was re-conquering the Golan Heights. As you might expect, the Golan Heights sit atop a plateau very critical to Israel’s safety. From the heights, enemy gunfire, missiles, and other artillery would have downhill trajectory into the Galilee area, making it very difficult to defend the lowlands. By re-taking the Golan, Israel secured the safety of its people.

The most important conquest, though, was the reunification of Jerusalem, including regaining access to the Western Wall, one of Israel’s most important and iconic features. While Temple Mount is still under control of the Muslim waqf, the Western Wall is as close to the site of the ancient Temple as the Jewish people can regularly and easily get to.

We know that Israel, and specifically Jerusalem, is the center of end times attention, and is the world’s focal point even today. More than that, Temple Mount is the flashpoint of conflict. The Jewish Temple which once stood there is now replaced by the iconic Muslim Dome of the Rock.

God’s Word teaches us that, one day soon, the Antichrist will arise, will confirm a treaty with Israel allowing them to re-build their Temple, then will enter the Temple midway through the 7 year treaty and will sit on the throne, demanding to be worshipped.

The significance of Jerusalem cannot be overstated. Thus, Israel’s miraculous victory in 1967 is a major event in world history and in Biblical end times. Follow along for the next several days as we go day-by-day through the Six Day War. You will find it fascinating, and you will have deeper understanding of the significance of the Holy City!

Enjoy!
