Catch it Tonight! Happening Now: State of the Church

John Adams said:

Absolutely, our Constitution and other founding documents are inadequate for immoral and irreligious people.

How do we know America was built on Christian principals? Because so many of our founding fathers stated such! For those who carefully study American history, no different conclusion is possible, as our history is replete with references to the divine providence of God.

The Mayflower Compact, our nation’s birth certificate, was forged with prayer. The Continental Congress was opened daily with prayer. Many founders insisted on stopping to seek the Divine when hammering out our founding documents.

But there was another reason Christian principals guided America’s path forward. Pastors and evangelists were integrally involved in the founding of our nation. Men such as George Whitefield (who had tremendous impact on Benjamin Franklin) and Jonathan Edwards (who ignited a Great Awakening during America’s most crucial foundational moments) helped shape our nation. Furthermore, it was the “Black Robe Regiment” of influential clergymen who promoted independence from the tyranny of the British crown. Some took up weapons, others took up the sword of the Spirit to fight the spiritual battle!

Indeed, we cannot forget the soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom, but neither can we forget the bold men of God and the part they played in our founding, and in our history.

So, what is the state of the church today as we navigate the last days? Are America’s spiritual leaders toeing the line as those who came before? Furthermore, are Christians fighting as hard for freedom today as those who were determined to be loosed from the tyranny of state religion?

I’m happy to say many are. But I’m sad to say it seems we are falling short as a whole.

Two men who have a firm grasp on American history in light of God’s Word are Eric Metaxas and Pastor Jack Hibbs. The two of them will discuss the state of the church tonight at 7pm Pacific time. It will be recorded and available on demand after that, so watch live or tune in when you can. This may be one of the most important discussions for American Christians who are concerned about the state of our nation and the church. Check it out.
