Tomorrow (Sunday, 1/8/2017) we will launch Why Israel Matters: Rightly Relating to Our Jewish Roots.  In this study, we will discover God’s specific call upon Israel and the impact it has upon us.  Additionally, we’ll discover what Scripture says about Israel and the nations, and we will discover how we as Christians are to relate to Israel and the Jewish people.  The study will climax in a look at the coming of King Jesus!

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your
father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation,
and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse,
and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Called to bless all the families of the earth, Abraham and his descendants were given a God-sized task, and the promise of God that He would faithfully accomplish the purposes He laid out before them.  Indeed, God called the Jewish people to be the vehicle of world redemption for all.  It was through the Jewish Messiah that a means of salvation was given!  A blessing to all families of the earth willing to receive.  Christians owe a debt that cannot be paid, thus, we have a responsibility that cannot be ignored.

Why Israel Matters takes us on the journey of understanding that responsibility, and how to rightly relate to our Jewish roots.  We will examine God’s covenants and how He has chosen to deal with Israel.  Likewise, discovery of God’s dealings with the nations will help us understand our proper place in relationship to God’s chosen people.  We will learn to love them, stand up for them, pray for them, and support them just as the Bible teaches.

Class time will include prayer for Israel, teaching, and open discussion; and for those who wish to dig in a little deeper, a weekly study guide will be provided.
