Foundation for the Framework

You’re back, and I’m so glad you are!  We’re launching out into the sea of Bible prophecy, and are still getting our bearings.  We’re looking at our third objective today:  Creating a framework from which to view today’s events through the lens of Scripture.

This Bible-blog study is certainly not a comprehensive study of Bible prophecy.  However, my hope is that your thirst for understanding Bible prophecy grows, that God’s plan for the end becomes clearer to you, and that you gain resources and ideas that allow you to come to your own understanding of Bible prophecy and how today’s events fit into that prophecy.

We must not simply view today’s events through political or economic lens.  To do so leaves us lacking understanding of the significance of global events.  However, to analyze today’s events through the lens of Scripture provides a clearer picture.  In his best-selling book, Epicenter, prophecy expert Joel Rosenberg says, “The Bible is not shy about describing itself as a supernatural book, written by an all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful God who chooses to give his people advance warning of future events he deems of utmost importance” (page 47).

So, let’s consider the idea of Scripture being the lens through which we view world events.  Consider what these verses have to say:

Jeremiah 33:3

Amos 3:7

God “gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding.”  (Daniel 2:21-22)  Likewise, Jesus rebuked His followers for failing to analyze current events through the lens of Scripture.  (Luke 12:54-56)  Ancient Hebrew prophecy predicted the coming Messiah, but those prophecies were rejected because the followers did not view the events of Jesus’ day through the lens of prophetic Scripture.

Though God’s Word does not reveal every single event, there are certainly major events and trends that serve as signs of Jesus’ Second Coming.  For those willing to look carefully through that lens, the Bible provides unbelievable detail that enables us to be ready for His return!

By God’s grace, this study will be guided by the three objectives we’ve laid out over the past few days.  Tomorrow is a big day, as we will erect the framework!  Well done, faithful sojourners!  See you tomorrow!
