Don’t Just Sit There…Do Something!

Happy Lord’s Day…and welcome back!  I pray you are enjoying this blessed Sunday!  (If you’ve just joined us, we’re a few short lessons into a study of Bible prophecy.  I hope you’ll follow along!)

Yesterday we focused on our first objective:  Exhort believers to be ready.  Today, we’ll explore the second objective:   Exhort believers to action.  It’s not enough to simply be ready…we must also act upon what the Lord commands us.

It is important for us take in today’s events with one eye on the news and the other eye on God’s Word.  Dear friends, if you have to be told that prophetic events are in the works today, I encourage you to pick up a newspaper or tune in the evening news.  Our world is coming apart at the seams…and the Bible has predicted it!

Perhaps you have thought, “Well, events half way around the world don’t really affect me.”  Or maybe, “I don’t understand and can’t identify with what’s going on in the Middle East.  How can I possibly do anything?”  Re-think, my friend!  We are greatly affected by what’s going on in the world today, and there is much we can do!

True, very few have been granted authority or opportunity to sit at the negotiation table and work out peace plans, or to travel around the world to deliver much needed supplies to those in need.  In fact, most of us seldom stop to consider the needs.  Furthermore, it is impossible for many of us to make a trip to Israel to show our support and bolster their economy!  So, what can we do?

The Bible is crammed full of action steps!  We’ll uncover more as we go through this study, but here are some examples.  What do these passages encourage us to do?

Matthew 25:35-40

Genesis 12:3 (regarding Israel)

Psalm 122:6

2 Timothy 4:1-5

Israel is the birthplace of Christianity and as Christians we are exhorted to bless Israel.  There are ways to fulfill these Biblical exhortations and we will discover many of them.

Indeed, it may seem impossible to do anything that would be life-changing or have eternal value.  But the reality is that as we are faithful in the “little things,” God will be faithful to multiply the effects to fulfill His good pleasure!  For example, why not pray right now for the peace of Jerusalem?  Make your life count, even in the “little things!”

Great job today, friends!  I hope you were blessed.  We’re building our foundation, so stick around for more!
