Hi Friends!  I’m detouring from my review of Israeli sites to share a bit about Purim, and how it relates to what is going on in the Middle East today.  But don’t worry, I’m working on my next site review even as I write this!

Israel celebrated Purim this past weekend.  On previous trips to Israel I had the opportunity to be in Israel during Purim and it is quite a celebration.  The nation (even many secular Jews) fast, then celebrate Israel’s escape from the evil intentions of the horrible Haman by dressing up in costume and dancing in the streets!  Read the book of Esther for the whole story!  (Remember, the Bible is Israel’s history book!)

Haman’s intention was total annihilation of the Jews (Esther 3:5-6, 13-14).  Sound familiar!?!  Throughout history, enemies of the Jews have tried desperately to destroy them.  It continues even today as Iran, the Palestinians, Russia, and terrorist groups throughout the Middle East have their sites set on Israel and her destruction.

Why is that?  Well, I can’t explain it any better than Joel Rosenberg did in his blog today, so I highly recommend that you read “Why do Tyrants from Haman and Hitler to Hamas and Khamenei want to Annihilate the Jews?”
