Judean Wilderness

We traveled south today through the Judean wilderness to Qumran, En Gedi, and Masada. This land is TRULY a wilderness! You saw a picture of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. It is barren. However, near En Gedi is a waterfall, which creates an oasis. Here’s a palm grove near En Gedi.

Notice the Dead Sea in the background.

Despite barren desert, Israelis have found ways to grow things!  Notice below the fields in the midst of pure desert. Rows of crops are often covered with what looks like plastic. However, it is a mesh product that holds moisture in, bugs out, and it disintegrates in time for harvest! Take a look at Israeli innovation…

Again note desert, crops, and Dead Sea…all in one shot!

Stay tuned for more about Masada…a very interesting place! Until then, shalom!
