Hi friends! Here in America, we’re two weeks away from the most consequential election in our lifetime. While the US is not the “end all,” we must understand God’s unique calling upon us. As a nation built upon Judeo-Christian principles, we are destined to live out those principles and we must stop to consider what those principles require of us.
One of our Biblical responsibilities is to stand with and bless Israel. Whether or not we vote matters, and HOW we vote matters! In an election expected to hinge on only a few votes, it is critically important for believers to fulfill our God-given privilege and responsibility to vote. Early polling predictions indicate as many as 41 million Bible-believing Christians will not vote. (My prayer is to make liars of those pollsters.)
Recently, Pastor Jack Hibbs said this:
I like to think of voting and VOICING. Think about it. You may not get the opportunity to preach to a million people like Billy Graham or Pastor a church of 10,000 like Charles Spurgeon - but God has called each of His true children to take advantage of every opportunity (talent) that comes along.
This is how we are proven to be obedient and faithful and a good steward over what he has placed before us in every area of life, to be obedient to the opportunity presented is how we show ourselves both faithful to God and at war with wickedness.
As messy and as dirty as this year's election is, I am grateful that God is using it to separate the wheat from the chaff, the Christian from the almost Christian. There is one thing for sure...there's no gray zone any longer for a pretender to hide. The gloves are off and the lines have been drawn. There are those who will - against all odds, against all rhetoric, against all the noise will still choose to vote to honor God with a Biblical worldview decision (Pro-Life) when they vote, and by doing so, they will be VOICING the will of God.
Sadly, the vast majority of those who profess to be Christians will not vote at all. They will take the opportunity that God has given them (in this constitutional republic) and they will bury the opportunity in the ground or hide it under a bushel.
What took me four paragraphs to say, Bonhoeffer - the Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, and Spy said in two sentences.
"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act." - Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer
"To not vote is to vote. And to not vote is to fail to do righteousness. Evil will always fill the void, and in this case, the "Christian" who doesn't vote creates a void so that evil might advance. Maybe you don't believe me - take a look at California, where there are millions of "Christians" who are eligible to vote, but they do not vote and then they wonder why things are so evil here. Instead of doing good by voting the bad people out, they think it's easier to pack up a U-Haul van and drive away, only to re-locate their apathy."
